Wednesday Morning

April 10, 2024

At Kookaburra Coffee Shop early.

The landscape has changed from my earlier forays here in Jan./Feb./Mar. The snow birders (whom I am one) have left back North. Spring breakers have also journeyed back to school. Population is less and attendance sparse.

Still the local groups gather to jabber and pontificate. A group of retired men to my right that has been jabbering about immigration and now are solving “sqatting problems” — now onward to weather. Locals show up and grab their coffee and then sprint outward and onward to their life’s journeys and problems.

And I do nothing.

I am on my third cup of coffee.

Muffin consumed.

I stare at nothing — dream — wonder. My mind wanders all over the place.

Here — there — everywhere.

Eventually the digits pick up the fountain pen and slants and ovals are made on porous white paper. Permanent black marks that will reside on pages hid in my Morning Journal. Maybe I’ll transfer to colored markers and quickly draw a tree — a part of human anatomy — cartoon figure?

These are difficult days for me????
